DEAD TO SELF III

A person who is broken in spirit and contrite of heart is concerned about His relationship with the God more than anything else. They don’t care about religious mantras and or outward appearances of denominational traditions. Their reputation before fellow men is the least of their worry. They could care less what people think about them. What they want is a real thing, the real deal! A personal, intimate and ever growing relationship with Jesus of Nazareth.

The Lord said to the prophet Samuel of King David, “I have found a man after my own heart who shall fulfill all my will.” – Acts 13:22

Even after he became the ruler of what was the mightiest nation at that time, his love and desire for God did not reduce because of so called ‘busyness’ seeing where sin abounds, Grace much more abounds (Romans 5:20).

God’s grace is more readily available to pray through you and seek His face, spending time with Him, where distractions and tasks are most abundant. Yes you read that clearly. In Zechariah 12:10 we are told that God would pour our on the inhabitants of Jerusalem (Hebrews12:22-24) the “spirit of grace and supplication” and that the weakest of them would be as mighty as David and the strongest of them like God!

When you feel weak to do anything spiritual especially your desire for the pursuit of God, don’t faint or give up. Hebrews 4:16 tells us to come boldly to the Throne of Grace (not condemnation) so that we can obtain mercy and find grace to help us in out time of need

The Apostle Paul knew that he was the least of the Apostles and yet laboured more abundantly than they all “yet not I,” he said, “but God’s grace at work in me.” How does God’s grace labour (work) through you? When you enter His rest. “Labour to enter His Rest.” – Heb 4:11 (Read my previous post).
The Lord also said to him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” What was Paul’s response? “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-11

Joel 3:10 says, “Let the weak say I am strong.” Why? How can we says so when all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God? Because of Jesus who dwells in us. “Christ in you the hope of glory.”

Intimacy with God is not a spiritual chumminess for the elite few ‘strong’ super spiritual Christians. It is a prerogative for all that are born again because God is now, “Abba”, father. He loves all His children and desires closeness to them especially to those that are weak, His strength is made perfect.

David was weak. His faults are clear to all in the Scriptures and so was Moses, so was Peter and so was Paul. Yet they sought God and found Him because they were pleasing to Him not by their own works of righteousness but because of simple child-like faith that imputed (credited) God’s righteousness to them and made them pleasing to His sight

Let the main goal in your life (despite and inspite of your weakness) mirror David’s:

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple…When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.””
Psalms 27:4, 8
